Closet & Shelving Installation in Miami
Double Handyman installs closet systems and shelving across Miami-Dade and South Broward — Elfa, IKEA PAX and BOAXEL, ClosetMaid, wire and laminate systems, closet rods, pantry shelves, garage shelving and floating shelves — anchored into concrete block or studs so they carry real weight. You get one flat-rate price before booking and a same-week slot in most cases. Framing, moving walls and anything that needs a permit belongs with a licensed contractor.
Why closet shelving fails in Miami homes
Most Miami condos and a lot of houses are built with concrete block or poured concrete, and closets are often a thin layer of drywall over that block or over metal studs. Builder closets come with a single wire shelf held up by plastic drywall anchors, and the first time it is loaded with winter coats you will never wear here, suitcases and shoe boxes, it starts to pull out of the wall. The fix is not a stronger shelf; it is anchoring into what is actually behind the drywall.
Humidity is the other Miami factor. Particleboard and laminate swell at cut edges in a damp closet, and steel that is not coated rusts in a garage near the water. We pick hardware and materials with that in mind, seal cut edges where it matters and leave ventilation gaps so a closet does not turn into a mildew box.
What we install
- Track-based systems: Elfa, IKEA BOAXEL, ClosetMaid ShelfTrack and similar
- IKEA PAX wardrobes and fitted interiors, anchored to the wall
- Wire and laminate closet shelving, rods, shoe racks and drawers
- Pantry and laundry shelving that holds cans, appliances and detergent
- Garage and storage-room shelving, rails and wall-mounted racks
- Floating shelves and wall-mounted bookshelves on block or drywall
Typical closet and shelving jobs in Miami
In the condo towers of Sunny Isles, Aventura and Brickell, the usual job is replacing the builder's single wire shelf in a reach-in closet with a double-hang system and shelves, or fitting a walk-in with a track system the owner designed on the Elfa or IKEA planner. In single-family homes in Kendall, North Miami and Hollywood we do more pantry and garage work — shelving that has to carry paint cans, tools and hurricane supplies off the floor in case of water.
Seasonal owners often ask us to build out closets before they arrive, and landlords ask for sturdy, simple wire systems that survive tenants. Both get the same treatment: a level layout, the right anchor for the wall, and a load test before we leave.
How it works
Send us the closet dimensions, a photo of the wall and the system you bought or want. If you have not chosen one yet, we can tell you which systems suit the space and your wall type. We quote a flat price. On the day we remove the old shelving, patch the old anchor holes if needed, mark the layout with you, install the standards or wall rail into block or studs, hang the shelves, rods and drawers, and load-test. Packaging leaves with us.
Where the line is
Closet systems, shelving and small built-in-style pieces are handyman work. Framing a new closet, moving or removing a wall, adding a door opening or adding lighting that needs new wiring is construction or electrical work that needs a permit and a licensed contractor, and we will say so before you buy anything.

Your Questions, Answered
How much does closet shelving installation cost in Miami?
We price flat-rate, not by the hour. Tell us the job — a photo or two helps — and we give you one upfront number before anything is scheduled. The price moves with the size of the closet, the system you choose (a wire kit is quicker than a full track system with drawers), the wall type and whether old shelving has to come out first. Whatever we quote is what you pay; there is no clock running and no add-ons at the door.
Can you install an Elfa or IKEA closet system I already bought?
Yes, and that is the most common way we do it. Send us the plan or the order list from the Elfa or IKEA planner and we check it against the closet measurements before the visit, so missing parts or a top rail that is too long show up before we arrive rather than on the day.
Will closet shelves hold weight on a concrete wall?
Yes, if they are anchored into the concrete rather than the drywall over it. We drill through the finish into the block and use masonry anchors rated for the load, so a fully loaded shelf of books or a rod of winter coats stays put.
Should I choose wire or laminate shelving in Miami?
Both work; it depends on the space. Coated wire breathes, which helps in humid closets and garages, and it is the budget-friendly option. Laminate looks more finished but needs sealed edges and some ventilation in a damp closet. We will give you an honest recommendation for your space.
Can you put up garage shelving for hurricane supplies?
Yes. Wall-mounted shelving and rails get water, tools, paint and storm supplies off the floor where flooding would reach them. We anchor into the block wall and keep heavy items low for stability.
Do you bring the materials?
Either way works. We can install hardware and parts you have already bought, or pick up what the job needs and pass it through at cost with the receipt. Standard fasteners, anchors and consumables are on the truck.
