Why fixture swaps are the fastest upgrade in a Miami condo

Most condos and newer houses in Miami come with the same builder-grade dome lights and boob lights in every room. Swapping them for the pendant, chandelier or flush mount you actually chose is a one-visit job that changes a room more than almost anything else at the price. The same goes for a dated vanity bar in a bathroom or the yellowed carriage light by the front door.

The work itself is matching the new fixture to the existing box, supporting the weight correctly — heavy chandeliers need a box rated for them — and getting it hung straight and centred.

What we handle

  • Chandeliers and pendants, including chain and cord length adjustment
  • Flush and semi-flush ceiling lights
  • Bathroom vanity lights and wall sconces
  • Exterior entry, porch and balcony lights
  • Like-for-like switch and dimmer swaps, including smart dimmers
  • Bulb selection for colour temperature and dimmer compatibility

How it works

Send a photo of the current fixture and the new one's box or listing. We quote a flat price per fixture. On the day the circuit goes off, the old fixture comes down, we check the box and support, hang and connect the new one, set the height and test with you. Anything beyond a like-for-like connection — a new box, new wiring, a new circuit — is licensed electrical work, and we stop and tell you rather than improvise.

Your Questions, Answered

How much does light fixture installation cost in Miami?

We price flat-rate, not by the hour. Tell us the job — a photo or two helps — and we give you one upfront number before anything is scheduled. The price moves with the number of fixtures, ceiling height, the fixture's weight and complexity — a 40-arm chandelier takes longer than a flush mount — and whether a dimmer swap is included. Whatever we quote is what you pay; there is no clock running and no add-ons at the door.

Can a handyman replace a light fixture in Florida?

Yes, replacing a fixture on an existing box with existing wiring is minor work a handyman can do. Adding a new box, running new cable or adding a circuit is licensed electrical work. We stay on the right side of that line and tell you when a job needs an electrician.

Can you hang a heavy chandelier?

If the ceiling box is rated for the weight, yes. Many standard boxes are rated to around fifty pounds; heavier fixtures need a box rated for them. We check the box before hanging and tell you if it needs to be upgraded by an electrician first.

Can you install a dimmer switch?

Swapping an existing switch for a dimmer of the same type, yes, including smart dimmers. We also check that your bulbs are dimmable, which is the most common reason a new dimmer flickers.

Do you work in condos and high-rises with building rules?

Yes, and most of our work is in them. We carry insurance and can send a certificate of insurance to your management office, we work inside the building's permitted hours, use the service elevator when the building requires it, and protect common hallways on the way in and out.
