Tile & Grout Repair in Miami

Double Handyman repairs tile and grout across Miami-Dade and South Broward — regrouting showers and floors, cleaning and sealing grout, replacing a few cracked or loose tiles with your spares, fixing small backsplash damage and re-caulking the corners and change-of-plane joints where grout always cracks. Flat-rate price before booking, same-week in most cases. Full retiling, shower pans and waterproofing rebuilds go to a tile contractor, and a leak behind the tile goes to a licensed plumber.

Why grout fails in South Florida bathrooms

Grout is porous, and in a Miami bathroom it lives in permanent humidity. It darkens with mildew, cracks where the shower walls meet the floor or the tub, and crumbles out of the joints after enough years of daily showers. Once grout is gone, water reaches the edges of the tile and the backer behind it, and that is how a small cosmetic problem becomes a loose tile or a stain on the ceiling of the unit below.

Concrete slabs and buildings also move a little with temperature, so the tile joints at corners and where the floor meets the wall crack first. Those joints should be flexible caulk, not grout — a detail that was skipped in a lot of older bathrooms and that we fix as part of the job.

What we repair

  • Regrouting shower walls, tub surrounds and bathroom floors
  • Deep grout cleaning and penetrating sealer
  • Cracked, chipped or loose tiles replaced with your spares
  • Corners and change-of-plane joints re-caulked with silicone
  • Small backsplash repairs and loose tiles re-set
  • Hollow-sounding tiles checked and re-bonded where possible

Typical tile and grout jobs in Miami

Condo bathrooms from the 1980s and 90s in Aventura, Hallandale and Sunny Isles are the classic case: the tile is fine, the grout is dark and cracked, and the owner wants the bathroom to look fresh for a sale, a rental or simply for themselves without a full remodel. In houses in Kendall, Hollywood and North Miami, it is often one or two cracked floor tiles from a dropped pan, a kitchen backsplash with a few loose pieces, or a shower where the grout has crumbled along the bottom row.

Regrouting is usually paired with re-caulking the tub and fixtures, which is why it sits next to our caulking and trim work. Done together, they protect the wall behind the tile for years.

How it works

Send photos of the shower or floor with something for scale, and tell us whether you have spare tiles from the original install. We quote a flat price. On the day we remove the old grout with an oscillating tool and grout saw, clean the joints, regrout with a colour you approved, replace cracked tiles, caulk the corners and seal. The shower needs a short curing time before use, which we tell you before we leave.

Where the line is

Regrouting, sealing and replacing a few tiles is handyman work. Full retiling, rebuilding a shower pan, waterproofing membranes and new tile installations belong with a tile contractor. If loose tiles or stains point to a leak from a pipe or valve behind the wall, that is a licensed plumber's job, and we will say so rather than grout over the problem.

Your Questions, Answered

How much does tile and grout repair cost in Miami?

We price flat-rate, not by the hour. Tell us the job — a photo or two helps — and we give you one upfront number before anything is scheduled. The price moves with the area of grout to replace, how many tiles are cracked and whether you have spares, the type of tile and whether sealing and re-caulking are included. Whatever we quote is what you pay; there is no clock running and no add-ons at the door.

Can you regrout without replacing the tile?

Yes, and in most bathrooms that is the right call. If the tiles are sound and well bonded, cutting out the old grout and regrouting makes the shower look new for a fraction of a remodel.

Can you replace one cracked tile?

Yes, if a matching tile is available — spares from the original install are ideal. We cut out the cracked tile without disturbing its neighbours, set the new one and grout it to match. If there is no match, we will tell you before starting and look at options with you.

How often should grout be sealed in Florida?

Every year or two in a daily-use shower is a good rule in South Florida's humidity, less often for floors outside wet areas. Sealer slows staining and mildew; it does not fix grout that is already cracked or crumbling.

Do you redo whole showers or retile bathrooms?

No. Full retiling, shower pans and waterproofing are a tile contractor's work. We repair and refresh existing tile and grout, and if a shower needs more than that, we say so honestly.

Why does the grout keep cracking in the shower corner?

Because corners move and grout cannot. The joints where walls meet each other, the floor or the tub should be flexible silicone. We cut the grout out of those joints and caulk them, which stops the recurring crack.
